La Salle Boys’ High School, Khushpur, Water Filtration and Washrooms Construction project
A simple request was made to the Foundation, to install a water filtration plant in the school to provide clean and safe drinking water to students and staff. However, this also meant the construction and installation of an appropriate room for the water filtration plant and the necessary electrical mechanisms to keep the plant running safety. Then the project required installation of proper taps so that students could drink from the clean water. The cost of this project was AUD$9,000 and was completed in two months.
Similarly, the other part of the request was to renovate and the boy’s toilets and construct new bathrooms for staff. Again, work began on demolition and construction of safe washrooms, with privacy screens and separate bathrooms for staff. Plumbing, electrical, tilling work, brick laying, rendering and painting, this project required careful coordination. Eight new student bathrooms were constructed, two staff female toilets and one male staff toilet were built. The project also included the installation of a new water pump, which ensures consistent supply of water to the student washrooms. The total cost funded by the Foundation was AUD $9,300.
Br Zohaib, Principal of La Salle Boys High School Khushpur is grateful to each person who has contributed to making these necessary and important renovations to the school. He writes;
A sophisticated and advanced water filtration plant is not less than a blessing for the school community. Students, staff and co-workers will have a access to clean, safe and fresh drinking water. This project will have a lasting positive impact on the health of the entire school community. Staff and students now have access to new washrooms which provide them with much needed privacy and safety.
Our community has benefitted greatly from this renovation and we thank the Lasallian Foundation and the network of Lasallian schools and donors.
