St Bede’s College is an independent Lasallian Catholic secondary school located on two campuses in the south-east of Melbourne. The Mentone campus caters for boys in Years 7-12, and the East Bentleigh campus (formerly St James College) caters for boys in Years 7-10. St Bede’s College was founded in 1938, and St James College (founded in 1970) became the East Bentleigh campus of St Bede’s College in 2021. The roll of the College is about 1800 students.
The staff and students of St Bede’s College contributed $35,000 to the Lasallian Foundation in 2019, and St James College contributed $13,000 in the same year. The funding from both schools supported projects at La Salle Technical College in Hohola, Papua New Guinea. La Salle Technical College offers academic opportunities and technical and vocational training to students who are not able to gain entry into a government secondary school. Coronavirus pandemic restrictions in 2020 meant that no fund-raising activities were able to take place.
