La Salle Girls’ High School, Faisalabad, Roofing Project

The Lasallian Foundation is pleased to report construction of the main hall and classroom roofing is almost complete. In July 2022, Br. Shahid Mughal, Principal of La Salle High School Faisalabad  shared a detailed report of the projects which began with the dismantling of the old roof in December 2020. After many delays, a fragile economy and fluctuating prices he was pleased to share the end stages of construction and his thanks to all those who have donated. The remaining work includes, Fixing of new doors and windows, paint work, and electrical work.

Br is hoping to have the girls back in their new classrooms by the end of the summer vacation.

I would like to extend my gratitude and thanks to the Lasallian Foundation, District of South Mexico who funded us through the Rome office.

In late 2019, small sections of the roof of the La Salle Girls’ High School in Faisalabad began falling into some of the eleven classrooms, fortunately outside school hours. An engineer’s report was requested, and this report advised that the building was unsafe in its current condition, and that continued occupation would be dangerous for staff and students.

The school managed the problem  by shifting classes into the adjacent boys’ school on the same site, but this is proving challenging in terms of management and cultural expectations. The move to the boys’ school can only be a short-term solution due to legal and cultural requirements.
