Enhancing Employability Through Modern Technology
The Office Skills Desktop Computer Replacement project was successfully completed at La Salle Technical Secondary School, Hohola. This initiative aimed to replace outdated desktop computers used in the Office Administration Skills program with modern, AI-capable machines to improve digital literacy and enhance employability skills among students. The project received a total funding of PGK 123,170.00 from the La Salle Foundation, with an overall project cost of PGK 130,159.00. The financial gap of PGK 6,989.00 was effectively covered through fundraising efforts led by the Students Representative Council (SRC), demonstrating commendable community support and engagement.
The upgraded computer lab was officially opened by student leaders and witnessed by students and teachers on 6th August 2026. The modern facilities are now being actively used by Office Administration students as well as students from Grades 9 to 12 for their computer classes and research activities. The computer room is consistently occupied, including on weekends, reflecting
high student enthusiasm and ownership.
This project significantly strengthens the capacity of La Salle Technical Secondary School to sustain high-quality vocational training in Office Administration and related digital skills. Staff training on the new hardware and AI software ensures ongoing effective use. The school’s commitment to maintaining and periodically upgrading technology within its budget, alongside support from
stakeholders, alumni, and the SRC, assures lasting benefits. The school’s strong graduate employment record confirms sustained demand for this program. Additionally, community outreach through free courses will foster ongoing engagement and utilization of the facilities.
