Office Skills Desktop Computers Replacement
La Salle Technical Secondary School in Hohola, Port Moresby has educated marginalised young people since 1975 and now serves 1,200 students, many living in settlements where basic services can be limited
A standout office skills program is helping students move into employment — but the computers they are training on are now holding them back.
The impact
The office skills program has a strong record of helping graduates into work or further study. In 2025, 21 of 23 students obtained full‑time office positions, with two choosing further education.
The problem
Most of the classroom computers are over 15 years old, cannot be upgraded, and cannot run current software applications. This limits what can be taught and reduces students’ ability to transition confidently into their first jobs.
The appeal
The Lasallian Foundation is seeking $ 30,000 to replace the old desktops with 25 newer computers for the office skills classroom.
