When His Grace, Rt. Rev. Archbishop Sebastian Shaw handed over the hostel to the management of the La Salle Brothers, the buildings and furnishings had become dilapidated.
Whilst the bones of the dormitory and shower block were structurally sound, the interiors required a full renovation. Br. Naqash Sarfraz FSC was given the responsibility by the Brothers to begin work making improvements to Hostel and to the governance of the facility. Br Naqash has worked tirelessly to improve the condition of the hostel for the students. He wrote to the Lasallian Foundation requesting funds for urgent repairs to the shower block and bathrooms. In one month he managed the project and completed it in December as planned.
I am pleased to inform our Lasallian Network that we were able to achieve our purpose of providing clean accessible toilets and washroom facilities for the children. This is a great help that we were able to provide for the benefit of the children through the help of Lasallian Foundation.
The cost of the project was $12,500 AUD. This was the immediate basic need required for the students who live at the Hostel and the hope in 2023 is to provide better furnishings and equipment for the boys to use in their free time.
