Pakistan Schools Water Purification Project

In 2020, La Salle High School, Malkanwala, and La Salle Urdu High School, Faisalabad, applied to the Lasallian Foundation for funding for water purification costing $1,500 for each school. Contributions to the Lasallian Foundation from De La Salle College, Ashfield (NSW) and Casimir Catholic College, Marrickville (NSW), supplemented by funding from a private donor in Victoria resulted in $3,000 being sent to the two schools for the water purification project. The project benefited 365 students at Malkanwala and 467 students at La Salle Urdu High School.

Br Sajid Bashir FSC, Principal of La Salle High School Campus 2,  wrote to the Lasallian Foundation recently thanking schools and communities for their support of this vital initiative. This is an ongoing project as schools in Faisalabad require water purification and maintenance annually.

La Salle High School Campus-2 did not have the facility of fresh and clean drinking water in the campus. The groundwater for the majority of Faisalabad is contaminated and is not suitable for drinking. In 2019 with the generous support of the Lasallian Foundation and our Twinning schools we installed a clean drinking water plant. In 2021 we received funds for the day to day running and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant. During the year we pay a monthly service fee to ensure the filter and machinery are working adequately. I extend my hearty thanks to the donors who contributed to this cause for their continuous and generous support.
